ja sit tiivistelmä viikonloupusta, " Ken 12r" kirjoittamana:
OK Well it was brilliant weekend spoiled only by a major off By Becci Ellis and a number of mechanical breakages but thankfully Becci (fastest lawnmower in the world) came away with a broken ankle some bruised ribs and bumps.
After going through the timing gear we think she had lost her footing on the bike resulting in her going onto the grass verge about 300 yards further down the course for about quarter of a mile then hit a molehill or soft patch resulting in her sliding one way and the bike cartwheeling the other way stopping about 35/40 yards further down the track.
She was immediately attended by the paramedics who contacted the air ambulance as a precaution and they air lifted her to hospital nearby.
After having a cast fitted to her broken ankle and being assessed for anything else she was released to her husband and home as she had been fully concious all the time......one very lucky lady :tu:
With that out of the way we now return to normal reporting
Overnight rain had cleared away on Saturday morning leaving a clean and dry track for us to share with the World Wheelie Competition.Wind was mostly behind us and fluctuated from single figures up to the occasional gust of around 16/18 mph but these gusts reduced during the day until the track closed early due to the above incident.Sunday was much the same with almost still conditions to a very slight headwind/slight crosswind/slight tailwind but always in single figures 3 to 9 mph.
With an even larger mix of machinery than normal we saw the first outing of Zef Eisenbergs V8 motorcycle based on two bored out Busa cylinders topped with modified Busa heads and the rest of it home built to a very high standard and finished only hours before the event, unfaired again in Streetfighter style running several times over 200 with a best of 206.228 mph.
Just as unusual was the Dodge Viper motored bike of Alan Millyard again without any significant fairings running a best of 182.511 mph but I an sure would have been faster over a longer course.
Back to the normal runners and we Had Becci Ellis fastest for Saturday before her "off" with a best of 259.542 mph, closely followed by Jack Frost with a best of 254.457 mph,Les Marsh 245.622 and myself at 234.977 mph.Mika Syren (speeduck on here) managed a sighting run of 234 523mph in the morning but next run exploded the clutch splitting the crankcase and other things after travelling to the event for three days so sad for himbut was able to take the motor to John Warrington in Malton who worked long into the night with Mika to have it back on site nearly ready to go in the morning, sadly it did not last out Sunday due to another issue.
Dave Taylor husband of Joanne (Tinkerbell 1710) formally our fastest lady rider had an outing on their turbo Busa road bike with a best of 217.737 Paul Brookes (busapaul) again on his turbo Busa 213.476.Neil Raynor a new entry at 211.441 mph again turbo Busa Darren Schaeffer on a Turbo B king 202.808 mph
A special mention to Andy Slade who has only one arm due to a crane collapsing on him at work and was finding it hard to crack 200mph as he cant launch the turbo Busa hard,he was given special permission to start a little further back than the mile mark and promptly ran a 205.127 mph and was as happy as I have ever seen a rider to gain his goal after 8 long years of effort even to get back on a bike.
While we are on special riders our 72 year old Pete Williams won the nitrous class with a 202.199 mph and our other new Finnish rider Petri Hakkinen who arrived with Mika on his 1622cc normally aspirated Busa won the N/a modified class with a storming 215.910 mph from Terry Smith 204.634 mph and (Bazz) Barry Millar 202.763 mph who sadly "rodded" his motor on Sunday after thousands of road miles and many 200mph runs.
Now at this event we always have a few "refugees" from the Wheelie riders who abort the wheelies and go on to complete the mile on two wheels like us normal people Their target is to get the front wheel up after about half of a kilometre then keep it up for a full kilometre (1100yds approx) and they have spotters at various points to confirm the wheel does not touch the ground before the finish line.
One of the visiting riders Cecil "Bubba"Myers from the USA was enjoying the ride on one of Jack Frosts Holeshot ZX10r turbo bikes so much he did some full on mile rides to a best of 229.201 mph so I guess he is a new entry Last years Wheelie class winner Egbert Van Popta now on a naked turbo busa nearly made a full wheelie at 209.919 so that puts him on two more lists,Jason King on a borrowed faired turbo busa 209.548 mph as he lost the head gasket on his own gixxer thousand on Saturday and R1 Lee on a gixxer thousand turbo not his normal R1 203.9 mph so another new entry.
All the above are standing start measured miles with the exception of one armed Andy Slade who was one and a bit but I feel he should be on the list due to his disabilty which makes it twice as difficult in my eyes.
Finally our timing partnership of Helen and Martyn Greathead who provide all these times for me to pass on to you have now registered with the site so if you ask them nicely I am sure they will keep you up to date with the next event in September which sadly I will miss.A bit longer than normal report but it was an exceptional weekend and here's a few pictures to give you a flavour of our event expertly provided by Straightliners.

Terveiset taalta Britannicalta lahestymassa Rotterdamia.
Tuossa Heksa jo linkitti Kenin tarinaa missa kerrottiin enimmat tapahtumat.
Pete hoiti suvereenisti vaparien pohjat, ei ihan omia ennatyksia mutta nyt jai kaikki muut taakse. Tasta 200mph sertifikaatti seka pari palkintoa, luokan nopein seka vaparien nopein. Nama sunnuntaina nollatuuleen.
Turbolla tosiaan ropleemia, jo eka veto repi kytkinkorin tuhannen tussun pareiksi. John Warrington taikoi lohkot lajaan yolla, myos vahvistuksena ranskalainen Yamahan nuori inssi.
Terveiset monilta ketka kavivat joko auttamassa tahi pallistelemassa tiimimme toimia, Ken Dunn, Barry Miller, John ja Esther Warrington, Dave Manning, Becci Ellis, Jack Frost, joku irkkuheppu Holeshotilta, Hannah, Helen Greathead seka moni muu.

Tarinaa Johnin kertomana Elvingtonin viikonlopusta:
Note to self - don’t bother making plans. After a very busy period readying several bikes, both top-speed and wheelie bikes, for the Elvington weekend I had planned to go through to Elvington on the Sunday. Did not plan on going on the Saturday, as I had a KTM to dyno and then a BBQ to attend with Esther in the afternoon. The KTM didn’t actually turn up, which was just as well, as I needed to go to Elvington to help Gixxer Les with rear wheel issues. Whilst I was there, Mika Syren who had driven across from Finland, experienced a catastrophic gearbox failure which, quite literally, blew the clutch out of the crankcases. There were a lot of long faces and shaking heads and commiserations at his misfortune, but the game isn’t over till the fat lady sings. So the stricken Busa was loaded into the van and brought back to the workshop in Malton. With trepidation, I phoned Esther to advise that she would have to go her works do on her own ! I made a few phone calls and Wayne Easterby came to our rescue by offering a Busa engine for us to strip and cannabalise to use the gearbox, clutch, bolts etc and we could sort out the replacements for him at a later date. Thanks Wayne. Whilst I was collecting the engine from him, Valentin Ragot was loading the Lee Embleton Gixer Thou turbo on the dyno to sort a small misfire. So Mika stripped the busa gearbox out of the engine whilst we dynoed the turbo. Having sorted Lee and sent him back off to Elvington, I started welding Mika’s crankcases back together and building up with weld the bits that had gone awol and then flatting the surface back. Esther arrived in the workshop after attending her BBQ and saw that it was going to be a long night, so organised coke, beer and pizzas to keep us going. After cleaning out all the gear teeth and aluminium swarf from the engine we were ready to put it all back together. A stripped thread on a 6mm bolt put us back a bit but with a thread insert fitted we were back at it. Then a crankcase bolt snapped off before it had even got anywhere near tight. That was it, the whole bottom end stripped off again and, thankfully, with a bit of time and judicious swearing the remainder of the bolt was carefully chiselled out of the case. Start again and re-assemble to bottom end using a replacement set of bolts. The clock on the wall said 1:05 am as we negotiated the engine back into the chassis. At 2:30 am the engine was bolted back in, the chain on and turbo bolted on. At that point we called a halt. Spanners were being dropped and brains were working too slowly – no good when someone’s life may be on the line. So Mika and Petri Hakkinen loaded the plenum, exhaust, tank, bodywork and assorted nuts and bolts into the van along with the bike and went back to Elvington to get a couple of hours shut-eye. By the time Valentin, Esther and I arrived at Elvington on the Sunday, Mika had her back together and managed 234mph on his first run reporting that the gearbox felt fine. Feeling pleased with ourselves, we retired to the Grey Horse for some lunch before driving back to Malton to collect Mika’s GPS which had been left at the workshop. Upon our return to Elvington, Mika informed us that on his second run the gearbox had exited the engine again, although this time it was through the L/H sprocket side. He will need to do some serious investigation to determine the cause. So, an action-packed weekend full of highs and lows.
